Missi Mel Pesa is an established audio-visual artist, musician, and composer of film and ambient music who works across film and digital media from her home studio in the Blue Mountains, NSW. Missi has exhibited her work at Scienceworks Spotswood VIC, Tribadelic Festival Gippsland, The Tap Gallery Surry Hills, North Melbourne Town Hall, Slovenia, the Netherlands and Croatia over the course of her 20 year practice.

Missi’s film and television credits include directing the short film, In Bocca al Lupo, 2019, as well as music composition and sound design for dozens of short films and documentaries, including theme music for the NITV/SBS Our Stories Our Way 2015-present and the feature documentary Innocence Betrayed, Larissa Behrendt, 2016.

Missi currently works as a digital media artist with Sharing Stories Foundation, as research assistant and podcast producer with Jumbunna Institute of Indigenous Education and Research UTS and as the Event Co-ordinator for the 4th Winda Film Festival.

Missi’s recently completed an experimental 8 Chanel sound design for a collaborative installation work with Prof Judy Atkinson, Nardi Simpson, and rea, in her Blue Mountains Studio, where she made the recordings with a Soundfield Ambisonics microphone. The work was commissioned for the Big Anxiety Festival Sept-Non 2019.

Missi’s education includes; BA in Music Performance at NMIT Melbourne, Grad Cert in Music at Berkley College of Music and RMIT Melbourne, Grad Cert in Digital Media at QUT Brisbane and Diploma of Sound Design at AFTRS.
