Tantoo Cardinal is an award winning Canadian activist and screen icon hailing from Alberta. With over 120 film and television credits spanning over her 40 year career, she is without a doubt one of the most prolific actors in Canada. LEARN MOREWinda launched the inaugural ‘Marty Leroy Adams Resistance Award’ in 2017 to honor and continue the legacy of a great film-warrior. In 2018 Winda acknowledged the contribution of Indigenous filmmaker Tyson Mowarin this year with the Martin Leroy Adams Award of Resistance.
Marty was an Indigenous film maker and warrior, who believed in a vibrant and independent Indigenous film industry that made it possible for anyone, wherever they come from, to make a film and take it around the world.
Winda continues to support and celebrate impactful Indigenous storytelling with this award in his honour.
